St. Sarah
Saint Sarah’s birthdate is unknown but we do know she was born in the Old Testament. She was a wife to Abraham the patriarch unfortunately she could not bore any children so out of despair she gave Abraham a maid and her children to be considered their own.
The earliest point know in Sarah’s life is when she gave Abraham the maid. Both of them lived together in the dessert of Canaan. Abraham had many visions from God including: threating to kill him if he did not give the maid back to her husband, telling him he shall have a son named Isaac and telling him he will have to sacrifice Isaac. Sarah and Abraham were very old and upset as they could have no children but luckily God told them that they will have a son named Isaac (meaning laughter). Sarah laughed at the news as she was 90 and he was 100.
When he was born Sarah spoke the words ‘God has brought me laughter and everyone who hears of this will laugh with me.’ (Gen: 21 6-7). When the child had grew Abraham hosted a feat for him but Hagar (who had a son with Abraham) mocked their son so Sarah demanded them to be sent away as it was her( long awaited ) first child.
Sadly, Sarah died aged 127 of natural causes and is buried in Hebron. Her feast day is celebrated on August 19th.
